Frequently asked questions
Why do I need a bookkeeper, I can do it myself for nothing?
The Australian business landscape is extremely complex. There are many different compliance requirements that your business needs to navigate and, just like law, you really should have someone in your corner who understands the requirements for your business. Bookkeepers go through years of training, are required to hold multiple accreditations and industry memberships and have CPD and ongoing training requirements each year that ensure they ahve the best and most up to date knowledge. A good bookkeeper will well and truly add value to your business. Not having one would be like walking through a maze blindfolded.
What is the best software for my business
Many bookkeepers specialise is a specific software package and encourage all clients to use that specific package, whether Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks or one of the many other packages on the market.
I believe the best software for your business is the one you are comfortable with. As a trained professional, I am proficient in all the major packages. However, if you are more comfortable using the old school shoebox method with an excel spreadsheet and that works for you, great!
If you want advise on what package you should use, I will sit with you and give you a demonstration on each one and we will work together to find an option that:
A. Suits your budget
B. has the functionality you need
c. makes your life easier.
Don't worry about what works better for me. This is about you!
Can I integrate my other business softwares with my accounting software?
This really depends on the software.
I have done many integrations between accounting softwares and a variety of business management softwares. Not all of them are useful but we can certainly look into it.
How much will it cost me to have a bookkeeper?
All bookkeepers are different. Generally our rates are based on a variety of factors such as education, experience and our own business expenses. In reality, you get what you pay for.
Many bookkeepers start their business at around $40 per hour but they will increase their rate over time.
However, paying $200+ per hour isn't necessarily going to get you better support. The trick is finding someone you can trust and who will work with you to get you where you need to be.
I personally pride myself on being reliable and up front. I will explain what i am doing and why. I will educate you about what is important.
Do you have fixed packages?
Yes, I can offer packages that will work for you and your business. Whether that is fixed rates or hourly rates. I will work with you to find the best packages for you.
